Overnight Oats
Overnight oats are exceptionally easy to make. I stayed away from them for a long time because I was unsure if I would like the taste of cold oatmeal. Overnight oats however do not have the exact same consistency as oatmeal. In some ways, the oats are softer (after having soaked all night) and it’s a lighter fare than traditional cooked oatmeal.
Depending on your jar size, you may need to adjust but I find that small jam jar (think smuckers pot and not mason jar) is perfect for me.
1/4 a cup of rolled oats
1-2 teaspoons worth of sliced banana chunks or 2 banana chips cut up into multiple pieces
1 whole date cut into multiple pieces
1 teaspoon of sliced almonds
1/2 teaspoon or less of Starbucks VIA instant coffee (or other finely ground instant coffee of your choice)
1/4 cup of milk of your choice
If you would like a little extra sweetness you can throw in 1 teaspoon or less of chocolate chips
Milk Variations:
- Coconut Milk (my preference)
- Cashew Milk
- Flax Milk
- Banana Milk
