Cheese Plate

Cheese plate - it’s what’s for dinner!

At least one night a week, I will have a cheese plate as my dinner.

From the refrigerator

I always keep a fruit for snacking in the fridge like strawberries, cherries or grapes and sometimes dates. A jar of olives is a great thing to keep stocked as well. If you’re serving for a vegan or vegetarian then I recommend hitting up your local health foods store for some swanky veggie jerky.

From the PANTRY

In addition I usually have a small supply of dried fruits like apricots in the pantry. My favorite nuts: cashews and almonds. And I can always scrounge up some pretzels and crackers pretty quickly. A few day old sliced baguette is the best.

for the main event

I’m really into vegan cheese since more cashew nut cheese became available. I really like the taste of the brand “TreeLine” that you can find at most grocery stores now as well.

As far as flavors of a good cheese plate, I like to focus on something flashy like a stilton as the center piece and then add a soft cheese such as brie and one hard cheese like harvarti.
